In this article, we want to talk about what is cnc lathe?

The meaning of cnc lathe:

CNC lathe machine is a kind of automated machines with high precision and high efficiency. Mainly used for turning inner and outer cylindrical surface, end surface, taper surface, arc surface and thread of shaft, etc.

CNC is the abbreviation of Computerized Numerical Control in English. The cnc lathe automatically processes according to the pre-programmed machining procedures.

We put the machining process of the parts, process parameters, tool trajectory, displacement, cutting parameters (spindle revolutions, feed, etc.) and the function of tool changer, spindle forward, spindle reverse, etc. is programmed into a machining program according to the instruction code and program format specified by the CNC machines, and then record the contents of this program list on the control medium (such as punched tape, tape, disk, bubble memory), and then input to the control device of cnc machine tool, in order to machining parts.

The main part of cnc lathe:

1.Main frame, including bed, column, spindle, feeding and etc. It is a mechanical component for various cutting operations.

2.Control device, is the core of the CNC lathe, including hardware (printed circuit board, CRT display, key box, tape reader, etc.) and corresponding software for inputting digital part programs and completing the storage of input information and data. Transform, interpolate, and implement various control functions.

3.Drive device,is the drive unit of the CNC lathe, including the spindle drive unit, the feeding unit, the spindle motor and the feeding motor. It realizes spindle and feed drive through an electric servo system under the control of a numerical control device. When several feeds are linked, the positioning, straight line, plane curve and space curve can be processed.

4.Auxiliary devices, it means that some necessary accessories, in order to ensure the operation of cnc lathe, such as coolant system, chip conveyor, lubrication, working light, monitoring, and etc. It also includes hydraulic and pneumatic devices, chip conveyor, exchange tables, CNC rotary tables and CNC indexing heads, lathe tools and monitoring and inspection devices.

Since the development of the first CNC lathe in the world by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1952, CNC machine tools have been widely used in the manufacturing industry, especially in the automotive, aerospace, and military industries.
